Wow! What a hidden gem we found at Umami Mountain Retreat! Despite driving past zebra and wilderness on the pathway up, we were blown away by the oasis of calm and beauty that awaited us behind the electric gates. The stone cottage had everything we needed for our short stay and the surrounding mountains provided a peaceful and picturesque backdrop. The town itself was full of art galleries, good food places, and charming shops. We will definitely be visiting again!
Recommend this hotel.

The accommodation, situation and service were superb. We stayed in the River Villa and the Mountain Villa. Wendy (owner) organized a private chef for our 60th birthday celebration and it was out of this world! Want to get away from it all, to one of the most beautiful places in the Western Cape? This is it!
The most comfortable beds you can get, spectacular views, peace, perfect peace.

Oh my, what an amazing find! This hidden gem was an absolute jaw-dropping experience. The location was simply breathtaking, nestled amidst nature and offering complete tranquility and privacy. The cottage itself was a beautiful oasis, with top-class amenities and exquisite decor. The patio with its outstanding views was a perfect spot for outdoor dining, and the comfortable couches made it impossible to leave. The grounds were meticulously maintained and the dam was a delightful surprise for a refreshing swim. The hostess, Wendy, was incredibly welcoming and accommodating. We couldn't have asked for a more idyllic and romantic getaway. A truly sumptuous experience that I would gladly repeat.

I keep coming back for a reason. The staff helped with my bags on my first stay. This place has everything I need: free Wi-Fi, free parking, flat-screen TV, and more. It suits me perfectly. I'll be back for my city trip.

The location was stunning, nestled in a valley surrounded by mountains and with a picturesque lake right in front of the cottage. It offered a perfect spot to indulge in the powerful green surroundings. The host, Wendy, went above and beyond to make our Christmas trip memorable, ensuring everything was organized and easy for us. Additionally, there were plenty of activities to do nearby, giving us a sense of being far away from the hustle and bustle while still having everything at our doorstep.
The initial access to the place was a bit challenging as we didn't have the remote to open the gate and the host wasn't present when we arrived, causing a delay and a slightly unwelcoming start to our stay. Also, it would have been nice to have some basic amenities provided for self-catering, such as cooking essentials like olive oil.

Our stay at Umami Mountain Retreat was worth every penny. The rooms were clean, well-maintained, and provided great value for the price. The location was peaceful and private, allowing us to truly relax and enjoy our getaway. The staff, especially Wendy, were friendly, helpful.
One small suggestion to make the breakfast even better would be to provide bath robes for guests.
